Shared Safety Culture

Group Safety Guideline No. 6 is designed to enhance Total's safety culture. The guideline highlights the importance of management setting the example and being present on the front line, and calls on everyone to take part in the safety process. Employees and partners are encouraged to behave responsibly and proactively, in particular by reporting any potentially hazardous situation. A number of safety culture and behavior initiatives have been taken by the Company. For example, there was an ambitious launch of safety behavior education program in early 2008. It comprises six videos shot at different group facilities worldwide that illustrate typical risk situations in our activities and are designed to elicit responses from employees during seminars. Since February 2008, more than 25 sessions have been conducted so far.

World Day for Safety at Work 2009

This year in continuation of the first celebration in 2008 the Total Group actively celebrated the day and Total Parco was not to be left behind. A fire drill and safety talk with Tank Lorry drivers and general workers were also carried out at our depot in order to improve our emergency responses and to promote shared safety culture. On an overall basis, the real message " Let's talk about Safety" was successfully accomplished on the day.
